Grants offer students more money for college

Two new Pell grants are being offered by the federal government to eligible Detroit college students this fall. The Academic Competitiveness Grant is geared toward first- and second-year college students who are eligible for Pell Grants and have completed high school. The second grant, Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent, is aimed at third-and fourth-year students majoring in science, technology, math or foreign language.
